Lieutenant 68772 Jack Greville Winks

Royal Engineers. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant on the 25th July 1936 and served with the 44th (The Leicestershire Regiment) A.A.Battalion Royal Engineers in 1938. He was attached to the 39th Anti-Aircraft Brigade at the time of his death.

Accidentally killed on the 24th February 1940 aged 24 years. His death was registered in Toynton St. Peter, Lincolnshire and Cause of Death given as 'Due to War Operations'

He is buried at Welford Road Cemetery, Leicester.

The son of Horace Ernest and Josephine Winks of Myanyn, The Ridgeway, Rothley.

Named on the War Memorial, Parish Church Triptych Roll of Honour and Parish Church Book of Remembrance.

The panelling in the Memorial Chapel in Rothley Parish Church was a gift from Horace E. Winks in memory of his son Jack Greville Winks R.E.
