This large field was once two fields, South Close and North Close but the dividing hedge has gone.
At the time of our visit it was a corn crop.
The original South Close was served by a pond, Pond 27 Bacon Hole Pond (Site 205 Bacon Hole)and the original North Close was served by Pond 29 Shalton Hough Pond (Site 213 Shalton Hough)
This field is bordered on one side by Second Alley Spinney Site 264. There are good field boundary hedgerows.
