SITE 293 OLDERSHAWS
Date: 7th April 2007
Observers: Marion Vincent
Location: Field to the rear of Farnham Bridge Farm created as a fishing pond.
OS Ref: SK59251342
Map Title: Site 293
Owners: Farnham Bridge Farm
It was sheer luck that I gained access to take the photographs of the pond on private land to the rear of the farmhouse, as visitors are not welcome in this area unless you are an angler. A wedding had just taken place on a houseboat on the River Soar and the reception was being held in a marquee by the farmhouse so I was able to step into the site to photograph the pond, which is Pond 40 Farnham Bridge Farm Pond.
This pond was dug within the past 10 years for angling. It is surrounded by young trees and attractive to wildlife. There is a path from the houseboats to the farm and this is used by the boat owners to get access to their moorings.
OLDERSHAWS IN 2013
This area has matured nicely since 2007 with the trees filling out and the banks having more vegetation. This should now be attractive to more wildlife
