SITE 261 ELM HILL FIELD
OS REF:SK58151355
There is no public access to this field.
24th February 2007
This field is pasture but not grazed as no stock proof boundary. It is constantly used by dog walkers. I have called it Elm Hill Field after Elm Hill Cottage, which is shown on the 1885 map as being on the boundary.
This field has a current Parish Boundary with Mountsorrel and the boundary line is an area of unmanaged tree planting. There is a watercourse running down this boundary so the area is damp. Old maps show a pond, which I need to investigate, as it will now be just a site.
According to an old map this field was originally two divided by a hedgerow shaped like two sides of a triangle. This field shows a good rise in the land.
I must make a return visit later in the year to see what is in the vegetation.
