SITE 234 CORNFIELD (2) KINCHLEY LANE
Date: 14th July 2006
This site could also be accessed from Kinchley Lane through Site 233 Cornfield (1).
This field has been made from three fields according to the old maps so two hedgerows have been removed. A 15ft margin has been left all round the crop.
On this visit we were looking at the site to see the potential for trees and how to get access.
There are young oaks in the boundary hedge leading up from Kinchley Lane.
This site has the old Mineral Line (Site 154) as one of its boundaries and there are some trees that need to be recorded as part of the Ancient Tree Survey.
The hedgerow was very well maintained, no gaps, thick and good vegetation allowed to grow. It was mainly hawthorn, elder, dog rose, field maple and elm.
There was a family of Whitethroats in the hedgerow along the boundary with Site 235 Cornfield (3)
