Date: 14th May 2005
This first visit was to walk around the fields of Brookfield Farm before making further visits to individual sites to start recording.
From this field you get lovely views over the village, as it is a high point of the parish. It also includes a large section of Thomas Babington's Carriageway Site 222 but here; sadly, most of the trees that lined the walk are now very short stumps. It should be possible in the autumn to see the stumps and record them.
23rd November 2005
Brian and I walked the Carriageway route, checking out the stumps and taking photographs of the trees and the carriageway, as it was a sunny day. We will need to return to Brookfield to make an accurate route map and features for the record.

When we were in this field last November I noted a very large tree stump with roots that had been removed from its original site a few yards away. I today recorded this as Tree Stump 514 with a girth of 6.55 metres making it a really Ancient Oak. It is in a very good condition and I hope that it will remain on site as part of the historic road to The Temple.
