SITE 182 STOCKING SOD

This was our first visit to walk the area and to look for a pond that shows on the map as a shallow circular dip but not on the boundary as is usual for field ponds. After a very hot, dry summer there was nothing to see but there was evidence of a 'dish' and the soil looked a different colour. We will have to return after the rains to see what happens. A further visit will be needed to see what else there is to record.

A return visit was made to see if there was any change to the 'dish' and we were pleased to see it full of water. There had been a lot of rain over two months so it was a good time to check it out. This is Pond 22 in the survey and called Stocking Sod Pool after the old field name.
We will still need to return to make more details about the field in general.
