This was our first visit to the site to look for evidence of a Water Mill.
There was a lot of stone around the site and the remains of two weirs visible, one of which was stepped with good remains. It was also possible to see where the sides to the water channels had been built, as there were some good remains around the site.
The map of 1842 shows the channels and features but the islands have silted up over the years as confirmed by Mr Cooper.

A further visit was made to take more photographs before the vegetation became too dense,
Brian will see what history he can find about the site and a water mill and report back to Mr Cooper with our findings and how to proceed to establish its origins.
Brian and I have re-visited this site many times to establish if a water mill could have been here. After a lot of research by Brian and Terry using maps and written reports it would appear to be part of the landscaping of the Temple Gardens. The Mill Site, as it was called, I have re-named the Island Site.
