RATS TEMPLE
The Rothley Ancient Temple Survey (RATS) covers a large area but in pieces. This part we called just Temple and we began our recording in April 2009.
We followed the same rules as for the Rothley Ancient Parish Survey (RAPS) with stints of 120m divided into four sections with a focus on hedgerow dating, ancient trees, archaeological features and history.
After we had started the survey Terry Sheppard visited the National Archive at Kew and discovered a wonderful notebook featuring The boundaries of Rothley. This caused a slight amendment to the very first stint and this is reflected in the date of 2012.
