Pictorial Postcards
As postcards and letters had to pass the Field Censors there were very few sent from abroad with a date and no information about locality. As can be seen from the comments on the postcard just below 'my envelopes have stuck together' indicated that multiple postcards could be sent to the family in one envelope. It also meant that the cards were protected, especially those with the beautiful embroidery, and a series of cards could be kept together.
These postcards are now almost 100 years old and tell a story of just how much letters meant to the soldiers fighting in dreadful conditions. A word from home would have been unbelievably supportive at this time.
