Minutes October 1943

MINUTES 7TH OCTOBER 1943

A meeting of the Youth Club was held at the Vicarage at 7 o'clock on Thursday 7th October.
Mr. Hancock arranged some games to play including table-tennis, cards and darts.
It was also arranged that the club contribute something towards the entertainment at a forthcoming social evening. Miss Becker suggested the Minstrels. The idea was agreed upon.
Towards the end of the evening we practised on the hand bells. "Home Sweet Home" and "The Bells of St. Marys" were played quite successfully.
The meeting broke up about 9 o'clock.

MINUTES 14TH OCTOBER 1943

A meeting of the Rothley Youth Club was held at the Vicarage at 7 o'clock on Thursday 14th October.
Mr. Becker (senior) kindly gave us a talk. He is the first speaker the club has had & the members were very interested in his talk which was mainly about China.
Later we separated into groups to do various things such as Sewing, Art, Hand bells, Billiards & Darts.
The Games Officer, Mr. Hancock, has decided to hold tournaments for Darts, Table-tennis and Billiards. The tournaments are open to all and commence next week.
At 8.30 we all joined together for games arranged by Mr. Hancock. The games included Postman's Knock & Bigamy.
We finally finished up with community singing. Mrs. Becker very kindly played the piano for us.

MINUTES 21ST OCTOBER 1943

A meeting of the Rothley Youth Club was held at the Vicarage at 7 o'clock on Thursday 21st October.
Mr. Lovett, (president) held a General Knowledge Bee. There were two lots of two teams entered with four members in each team. Twenty seconds was the given time in which to answer the questions. "A" team won both times.
The table-tennis, darts and billiards tournaments commenced & are progressing very well. The Arts, sewing and hand bells groups continued as usual.
At 8.30 we congregated again for games & dancing. Kim's game was played & the prize was won by Mr. Hancock.
Mr. Fletcher played for dancing.

MINUTES 28TH OCTOBER 1943

A meeting of the Rothley Youth Club was held at the Vicarage at 7 o'clock on Thursday 28th October.
Mr. Ashwell held an Advertisements competition. There were 20 questions & Miss Mansell & Miss Penteloe were the winners.
The Hand bells, Sewing & Arts groups were continued as usual.
The tournaments for darts, billiards & Table-tennis are progressing very well.
Games were arranged by Mr. Hancock for 8.30 as usual. "Passing the Hat" was the game for the evening. Mr. Ashwell won.
Mr. Talbot played for a little dancing.
The meeting broke up at 9.15.
