Minutes January 1945

MINUTES 4TH JANUARY 1945

The first meeting in 1945 was celebrated by having an evening of games only.
We played "Menu"-a paper and pencil game.
"Striptease"-an amusing racing games.
"Winking"-the proper way!
"Russian Charades"-very popular!
As usual, we finished with the Service, taken by the Vicar.
On Tuesday a committee meeting was held at Bob's.
Future programmes were arranged. It was decided that Bob and I should go to the Parochial Church Council Meeting on Tuesday. Geoff selected quite a few games from a book ready for the future.

MINUTES 11TH JANUARY 1944

The meeting commenced with a debate. Actually there wasn't a proper motion, it concerned "Spiritualism".
For: Pat and Barbara
Against: David and Tony
Chairman: Geoff.
I will not attempt to summarise the speeches but I will say that a lot of irrelevant points were raised. When the vote was taken it was found that only three members out of twenty three believed in Spiritualism although the majority believe in Spirits! After this we played "Chinese Gossip".
We played "Winking" from about 8.15-9.30 when Barbara took prayers.

MINUTES 18TH JANUARY 1945

This evening Mr Wright visited us and gave us a talk on "Counties and County-towns of England". He gave us a brief account of each county and of the chief towns in them.
This was followed by a game of "Photography", this by "Murder" and this in turn by "Striptease"
We now get about twenty members every week although just before Christmas we only got about seventeen members a week-nevertheless we need a few new members.
The Vicar took the service to finish yet another enjoyable evening.

MINUTES 25TH JANUARY 1945

It was decided at the committee meeting at Bob's on Tuesday that this evening we should have a snowball fight and a "spooky evening". Joan and I were not present at this meeting when the Concert was also discussed.

The "spooky evening" consisted of telepathy in various forms. The majority, as was to be expected, didn't work, however one did but this involved one person keeping his or her mind absolutely blank.
Geoff. Philip (who was also at the committee meeting and Bob told one or two stories in the dark.
A game of "British Bulldogs" was also played.
The snowball fight did not come off as the snow would not hold together.
We finished as usual with the service taken by the Vicar
