Minutes April 1946

MINUTES 4TH APRIL 1946

This evening we commenced with a game of "Striptease".
Then came the 13th Youth Club election.
Pat was proposed by Bob and seconded by Sheila.
Bob was proposed by Bill and seconded by Mavis.
Vera was proposed by Stanley and seconded by Lois.
Vera received one vote.
Pat received four votes.
Bob received eleven votes.
The committee was chosen as follows:-

PRESIDENT: Bob Lovett.
VICE-PRESIDENT: Pat Rochester.
SECRETARY AND TREASURER: Sheila Gregory.
COMMITTEE:
Lois Buckler.
Bill Hancock.
Philip Roots.

"Murder" was then played. Details were arranged for the Party and for the meeting on April 18th. A committee meeting has been arranged for next Wednesday.
This evening-the first Thursday in the month, we held the service in Church.

MINUTES 11TH APRIL 1946

PARTY

Visitors-Quorn Y.P.F.

The Rothley Youth Club party was held in the Village Hall, the visitors being Quorn Y.P.F.
The usual games "winking", "spinning the bottle", "nabing papers", "husbands and wives", "musical knees" etc. were played.
Dancing and Novelty dancing were pushed into the programme at intervals. This was not a great success as the radiogram, kindly lent to us by Mr. Dennis Fields, failed to work properly, also the records were old and out of date.
Refreshments were provided-voted by many as the best spot of the evening. Also a "Double or Quits Quiz" was held with Bob as Question Master.
Matches were given as prizes for each game the ones having the most at the end of the evening received a proper prize.
This party was not a great success-it lacked "go".

MINUTES 18TH APRIL 1946

This evening for the first half an hour we played games out of doors-"Hide and Seek", "Kicking the Can" and then we had a debate; the motion being that "Major Industries should be Nationalized".
Bob was the Chairman.
Bill and Sheila opposed the motion and Philip and Robert supported it.
The speeches, which I will not attempt to summarise contained a lot of irrelevant facts. However, I will say that only one member of the audience got up and that was to ask a question.
A vote was not taken.
We had this evening's service in Church.

MINUTES 25TH APRIL 1946

This evening a discussion was held. The subject being "Religion". Various points were raised, Roman Catholicism, High and Low Church. Reasons for going to Church, Church customs, Idol worshippers etc. etc. Bob acted as Chairman.
