House Names in Rothley

Many years ago houses in small villages were known by their names, not numbers, and form a very interesting history. Many names were related to world events and the people who were involved at the time. Stonemasons would have been very busy 100 or more years ago with some of the names being part of an elaborate plaque set high in the brickwork. We have some lovely examples in Rothley so look up as you walk past the older houses and enjoy our history carved in stone.
