Heritage Open Day 2012
In 2012 the Rothley Heritage Trust decided on just one venue to open for Heritage Open Day and this event took place on Sunday 9th September 2012 from 1-5pm. It was the year to open the Cemetery Chapel to give a preview of the proposed plans for a permanent exhibition there about the Barrow-upon-Soar Union Workhouse which was once situated in Rothley Parish.
It proved to be a very popular event with the same comment that visitors had never been inside the chapel and this was their opportunity. It was also the chance for visitors to learn more about the Parish Workhouse. Many were researching their family history through the burial list available and which included all the paupers buried in the cemetery.
It was the third successful Heritage Open Day organised by the Rothley Heritage Trust.
