Lance Sergeant 2055010 Richard Keith Curtis Hammond

377 Battery 44 Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery (4th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment).

Died on the 18th November 1940 aged 24 years. Killed in a tragic accident whilst cleaning a gun. His death was registered in East Elloe, Lincolnshire.

Son of Herbert and Elizabeth Florence Hammond of Rothley Plain.

He is buried in St. Leonard's Churchyard, Swithland, Leicestershire in the family grave. The grave inscription is 'IN A SHORT TIME WAS FULFILL'D A LONG TIME'
