Son of George Henry and Alice Fountain. George Henry Fountain was one of Rothley's three Coal Merchants based in Fowke Street, Rothley.

He is buried in the Brouay War Cemetery, Calvados, France. Grave Ref: 111.H.5. His grave inscription is 'FELL IN ACTION. PEACE, PERFECT PEACE'
