Missing in action on the Western Front on the 24th March 1918 aged 21 years.
Mrs Dexter contacted the International Prisoners of War Agency in Geneva to see if he had been captured but a stamp on the index card "Négatif envoyé" means that the missing soldier was not registered as a prisoner, therefore the Agency sent back a negative answer.
He is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France. Panel 35 and 36.
Son of Harry and Mrs Sarah Ann Dexter of Burnaby House, Mountsorrel Lane, Rothley. Brother to Florence Sarah, George Harry, Horace and Daisy. His father died in May 1915 when the youngest daughter Daisy was aged 10 and John was 18.
