Choir Stalls, Rothley Parish Church

Two rows of Choir Stalls on either side of the chancel were commissioned by Ethel Fawcitt, mother of Sub Lieutenant Bernard Fawcitt. Bernard Fawcitt died on his ship during the invasion of Sicily. The stalls are of high quality and feature very distinctive carvings at the stall ends. Just under the top rail of the front stall on the north side, the carver has recorded the dedication message against a red ground:

THESE CHOIR STALLS WERE GIVEN BY HIS MOTHER IN PROUD MEMORY OF SUB-LIEUTENANT BERNARD FAWCITT R.N.V.R. KILLED IN ACTION. LICATA. SICILY. 10th JULY 1943
