Son of Jacob and Priscilla Bowler. Brother to Sarah A, Martha, Albert Henry, Hubert Edgar, Jacob Leonard, Robert Percy, Kathleen E, Evelyn J H, Frank L V and Doris W. The family lived at Dobb Hall, Rothley at the time of Reuben's death. His brothers Albert Henry Bowler and Robert Percy Bowler were also killed in action and two others wounded.
